Venetian Plaster is truly one of the loveliest ways to create a subtle old word look.
Judy was very pleased with the results.
Venetian Plaster, by Behr, is applied with a trowel. It is not actually plaster rather very thick paint.
One of the biggest mistakes I find when people use this product is the application, they tend to put it on too thick like it is plaster - in order to achieve the depth of texture.
Apply the product in a criss-cross motion leaving void areas that you will fill on your second coat - thus creating depth. But don't leave chunks or heavy thickness on the wall.
The results are not as visible until the very end when the wall is burnished.
That's why people tend to put on too much as they can't see the results quick enough and believe they are doing it wrong.
This is Judy !!!
Once the second coat dries, it's time to sand the wall - keeping it smooth and defining some texture.
Vacuum the walls to get all the dust off before burnishing.
Burnishing is done with a trowel, this wall is so large I decided to use a large drywall trowel.
This is how Venetian Plaster should look when finished !
A lovely subtle old world look !!!
